Barbara Lee, was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and moved to Southern California as a child. Upon graduating from Diamond Bar High School in 1984, Barbara began her career in the entertainment industry.
During her tenure on the CBS series “Heat of the Night” in 1995, Barbara’s career shifted as a stunt performer. She quickly landed coveted assignments stunt doubling for Halle Berry, Vanessa Williams, and several Hollywood actresses. Her most recent work includes Underdog, Game Plan, Dan in Real Life, Showtime’s Brotherhood and The Surrogates and Detroit 187.
As a parent and community advocate, volunteerism has always been an integral part of Barbara’s life. On a local level, Barbara has volunteered with the Cranston Chamber of Commerce, the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Sophia Academy for Girls, AIDS Care Ocean State, and other non-profit organizations. She is currently serving as a Board Member for The Genesis Center, a non-profit organization that provides education and self-sufficiency tools to families of diverse cultures, and holds a chair position for the organization’s premiere annual fundraiser, Food For Thought.
Barbara’s extensive experience in pageantry began as one of the 10 top finalist at the 1988 Miss Puerto Rico Universe Pageant. In 2008, she won the state title of Mrs. Rhode Island American Queen. Several months later, she was crowned the national titleholder as the 2008 Mrs. American Queen in Daytona, Florida. During her reign, Barbara became involved with The Women’s Center of Rhode Island. She is now the part-time Development and Fundraising Associate and is an integral committee member for the annual Women’s Excellence Award Luncheon. Securing Denise Brown as last year’s honored keynote speaker, who was the sister to the murdered Nicole Brown-Simpson, and this year’s keynote Mary Murphy judge of “So You Think You Can Dance” on FOX television.
Barbara’s experience in film, television, volunteerism, and pageantry has fueled her desire to produce a fair and positive learning experience for young ladies to become beautiful advocates for worthy causes. As such, Miss Earth Southern New England candidates and subsequent title holders actively promote and advocate for the preservation of the environment and Mother Earth.
Residing in Cranston, RI, Barbara is married to her husband of 15 years and has three healthy, loving, and active children.
